Beef Bone Broth
You might wonder why I am putting this under the drink category. Adding bone broth to your coffee or hot cocoa is an easy way to incorporate this nutritional powerhouse. I buy my bones from a local farmer that I trust. I also throw in herbs. I use this bone broth in any recipe calling for water or broth.
2 lbs beef bones
2 carrots, chopped
1 onion quarter with skin
3 celery stalks, chopped
5 garlic cloves, smashed
2 tablespoons astragalus
½ cup dried nettle leaf
¼ cup chopped fresh herbs like rosemary, thyme or parsley
2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
Water to cover bones
Salt and Pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place the bones on a parchment lined baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
While the bones are in the oven. Roughly chop veggies and herbs.
When bones are roasted. Transfer them to your instant pot along with veggies, herbs and spices.
Add water, ACV and soak for 30 minutes.
Now put your instant pot on pressure cook function for 3-4 hours.
When completed, let it release pressure naturally. All broth to cool somewhat before handling.
Strain broth through sieve as you ladle into mason jars.
Place lid on jars, label and stick in the freezer once the jars are at room temp.
