Adrenal Dysfunction

I've spent the last several weeks going over lab values for blood sugar markers which is one of the main areas of work that I do with people.

The next area that I see the most is with nervous system regulation.

Today we will start with some signs of dysregulation. It is important to note that there is overlap with so many of these symptoms and other imbalances and it's always best to see someone if you think you need a little help identifying your drivers.

Any sleep disturbances

Tired but wired feeling

Waking tired or anxious

Constant feeling of overwhelm or burnout

Anxiety or Depression

Energy drop around 3 in afternoon

Increased need for caffeine

Craving sweets or salt

Mood changes

Brain fog

Weight changes

Critical attitude

More frequent sicknesses

Can't relax or have fun

Muscle stiffness or pain

When nervous system dysregulation goes on chronically it begins to affect other systems like our thyroid health and hormone function.

There are different hormones and nutrients that get taxed when our nervous system has been β€œon” for a while.

The best testing methods would include a urine or saliva cortisol which looks at the diurnal rhythm and not just one point. One number (typical testing) doesn't tell us how your body is responding to stress.

If you are interested in this test that looks at your patterns, I keep them in stock and have consult spots that help you review your results.

Another area of depletion I commonly see is with nutrients. Often depleted are our b vitamins, magnesium, and zinc. My favorite way to test these are through organic acid testing or HTMA.
